As you may recall, I had some super exciting news to share with you a while ago. If you don’t know, click here and here. So with this news, that meant it was time to plan a party…which you know we love love love. The challenge: throw a party for my best friend who also is the genius event designer around these parts…holy smokes! It took me about 5 minutes after being told the glorious news to start dreaming about this party (lets be honest, I’d been collecting ideas for a year!)

Once I determined the theme (based on Ginger’s love for all things fancy, Audrey Hepburn and the movie itself), I began planning. I was able to create a very clear picture of what I wanted the decor. I had LOTS of help and encouragement to bring this event together. Despite my inability to keep a secret, I kept much of the day a surprise…I think!

The menu was actually set before the theme…which can be daunting and maybe even ill-fated. However, I felt solid on it so I tweaked it along the way, but really kept with my original plan…and I think it was a win!

I had some great inspiration for the decor and based on space really needed to keep it simple to accommodate the large group in a modest sized apartment. I envisioned a ceiling display that tied my entry way and dining room together.

And wanted the space where the gifts would be to be particularly darling, because really that’s where people would stare about 90% of the time. (Note the little beauties hanging to block the kitchen? I found the idea somehow in my infinite web hunting….simply genius. Coffee filters, brads and yarn!)

(these pictures are taken with only a portion of the beautiful gifts Ginger’s friends and family brought to bless her with)

I wanted the shower to be devoid of the “typical” shower games or anything that might make Ginger not feel celebrated, but at the same time wanted the guests to be connected to the event. So we had bingo with lots of prizes…I think we all enjoyed ourselves.

Stay tuned for part two…
