DeQuan @ 13 {Personal}

You may have noticed a face in our CES group pictures that not many of you recognize.  That face belongs to one of our near and dear, DeQuan.  We met DeQuan through Freedom Fire when he was just 3 years old.  Since then he has been grafted into our hodge-podge family and often stays with Sarah & Jon.  Many things have changed over the years but in the 10 years we’ve known him we’ve seen his heart for God and others continue to grow.  He has a knack with babies and little, little kids.  Davis sure does LOVE him!  (If you follow either of us on facebook you’ve no doubt seen many instagram photos with the two of them).  Sarah had one request for these photos – that I capture his MOVING.  At 13 he is ALWAYS on the move.  His body has a rhythm all it’s own and he can often be found dancing to whatever tune is playing….or not playing.  Can’t you tell he’s a fun kid?

Even in the short span of the summer (can you believe it’s almost over?!) I’ve seen DeQuan changing.  He’s growing up so fast.  13 is a great age, you’re still a kid but on the verge of so much.  I’m glad that we were able to slip away for a few moments today to freeze what 13 looks like on him. 

As I review these pictures and write this post I can’t help but close by saying that this guy has big things ahead of him.  He’s more than a ‘triple-threat’.  He is likeable, fun, caring, and has people that love him.  More than that he’s got God on his side.  And if you’ve got Him on your side not much is going to get in your way.
