Love Session Attire {Quick Tips}

Today we’re talking about Engagement Sessions…we’ve mentioned a time or two how important (& fun) we think these sessions are.  This is another important part of the conversation, what to wear!  Let’s jump in.  First, think about clothes and colors in an effort to create a mood.
What are the types of images you’re most drawn to? Playful? Romantic? Formal?

Choose the colors/clothes in your individual clothing choices as well as how you look together as a couple. When you’re looking at images you like (rather on our site or pinterest) look at the colors in the images you’re drawn to, do you see a pattern in what you like?  That can help when you pick your palette, think two or three different colors, i.e. jewel tones, pastels, earth colors, etc.  As natural light photographers, we encourage choosing colors like champagne, rose, sheer yellows and other colors that reflect and catch light.  It’s tempting to use the session as an opportunity to go shopping for a new outfit {which we’re always in favor of!}  However, you will have these pictures to treasure forever, so wear clothing that is flattering to your body type, you feel comfortable in and fit you properly while reflecting who you are.  Bottom line, it’s not the best time to try a new style.

Ladies, DO wear make-up, even if you normally don’t. Foundation helps create smooth, even skin.  We love eyes that pop!  When considering having your hair and make-up professionally done, we always say YES!  {Plus it’s a great chance for a trial run for the wedding!}  Unless you will are a rockstar at your make-up, call our girl Camille she is a make-up rockstar!  Either way, come with your make-up already done. Bring along the important stuff for minor touch ups between locations or clothing changes.

Next, think about what you’re wearing in relationship to where you want your session to take place.  The places you love to go, what you like to do together, your hobbies, special points of interests, or even the theme of your wedding create good locations.  Brainstorm about creative what will truly reflect who you and your fiancé are as a couple.  A favorite winery, mini-golf course, things that you enjoy doing together. These are great ways to create images that will be meaningful to you through the years.  We are always willing to give recommendations or take you to our favorite spots…but we love it if the space is meaningful to you!

Remember, this kind of portrait session only happens once in a lifetime, so it’s worth making sure that these portraits are ones that you are proud of.
