Old Hollywood Event Design

Last summer we were asked to do an Event Design based on an Old Hollywood theme.  Realizing we’ve never shared the goods with you all we thought we’d share what we came up with in case any of you are planning a similar event!

Kansas City Wedding Designer

Our clients told us that they wanted something classic but fun.  They wanted to use a deep red, black, and white. The venue they had chosen was a great space with really tall ceilings, so we had lots of opportunity to make a statement.  To bring in a bit of the unexpected we decided to pull in a zebra pattern.  We found these rugs at Urban Outfitters for just $40 each!  We also relied heavily on feathers in the centerpieces (instead of all floral arrangements) and suggested they use feather boas on some of the chair backs.  Since this venue required our clients to rent all of their items we suggested using this arched chair since it had a slight art deco feel.  We also suggested very classic barware and upgrading their linens to a satin instead of polyester.

The key with a theme like this is to go all out.  If you choose one or two elements and really invest in that then it will make a BIG impact.  One of the biggest mistakes we see brides make is being too afraid to fully commit to a theme.  ‘Theme’ is not a dirty word, it’s okay to choose and theme and GO FOR IT!

What do you think?  Think you could have handled something this awesome?!
