Girls Weekend – Osage Beach {Personal}

November 1st, 2012

10 years ago this year we met two girls.  Our world is a better place because of them.  It was move-in day to ole’ William Jewell College.  Forgive us if you’ve heard this story before.  We were fresh off the farm and Jeanette in her zealousness over meeting “normal people,” scared us to no end.  She turned out to not be totally crazy, at least not the scary kind and her friend Rachel that she was raving about was worth all the hype!  Earlier this year, Ginger started scheming about a weekend with just the ladies.  It was perfect!!  We rented a condo down in Osage Beach with the intent to be together, laughing, catching-up and SHOPPING!  Seriously, we did a number on the shopping…nearly 8 hours of shopping on Saturday.  Late night laughter, cooking breakfast together, a “favorite things” gift exchange and all things girly!  We took our camera intending to document the weekend, but we were busy living it and the best we did was iphone pictures.  In case you don’t follow us on instagram we thought we’d share a peek into our girls weekend!  Enjoy….

We had so much fun with the panoramic photo option…plus you can get a feel of our fab condo!

On our way out of town, we stopped by the weirdest, scariest shop EVER.  It was equal parts entertaining and terrifying…but sadly didn’t yield the cheesey t-shirts we were in search of.

Such a great weekend, so thankful to have such wonderful friends!

Will & Morgan {Kansas City Engagement Session}

October 30th, 2012

These two college sweethearts are just that, sweet.  They were quiet as the morning started, in the freezing cold, but it didn’t take long for their natural comfort with one another to come through.  The session, like their love, was so easy & fun to document.  They are new to the KC area, and enjoying making it their own…of course we had to share with them some of our favorite KC things!  Will wanted to be sure we captured their love in some of KC’s iconic places.  We also enjoyed their team loyalty with their MU apparel.  Enjoy some of our favorites from the day….

Big, Big, Big, HUGE, HUGE, HUGE NEWS! I’m going to be an AUNTIE!!!!!!! {Personal}

October 26th, 2012

I may have went overboard with the exclamation usage in the title (sorry) but when you are THIS EXCITED you have to use a lot of them.  I can’t hold this news in ONE minute longer so…

Sarah & Jon are having a BABY!!!!!!!!

Which means I will be an AUNTIE!!!!!  Chris, Davis, and I are pretty pumped over here.  We cannot wait to see them become parents and experience all the joys that a new baby brings.  They are going to do great and we are so blessed to be able to share in this joy with them.  Already shopping for the little, tiny baby things has us fawning over this new life.  Each baby carries such possibility and potential, I can not wait to see what lies ahead in this little one. We have already begun thinking of Davis and the new baby playing together and being little besties too (it makes our hearts melt thinking of the two of them together).

Many congratulations & love to the Gaikwads from the Weselohs’ and from me to my very, very best friend.

Oh yeah, and for those wondering, the doctor assures Sarah that there is only ONE little one in there :)

What to Wear {Quick Tips}

October 24th, 2012

We’ve been getting a lot of questions lately asking, “What should we wear for our shoot?”.  In an effort to help out here are a couple of guidelines we typically share with our clients are:

1)  Stay away from dressing everyone in the same color.  This can lead to over/under exposure &/or lots of floating heads.

2)  Have fun with texture and color!  One of the easiest ways to coordinate outfits is to choose one person to wear a pattern then pull colors out of that pattern for everyone else.

3)  Layering is ok.  If you’re wearing a solid color break it up with jackets, cardigans, scarves, and accessories.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to choose what to wear.  To help we’ve pulled together some mood boards to help illustrate what we’re trying to say.  (A picture is worth a 1000 words, right?!)

Since this is a common question expect to see more boards like this to inspire your outfits.  Of course you have to have a session booked first, so hop over and contact us if you’re not on the calendar yet!

Mary’s Baby Shower {Personal}

October 18th, 2012

I just need to start by saying, seriously how did people plan showers before pintrest?!  Okay, moving on.

We threw a shower last weekend for my sister, Mary.  She is having her first baby in February.  You know how I feel about being an Auntie!!  And of course we love parties!!  I knew we wanted it to be romantic, soft, girly and include lots of pink.  So to celebrate her we decided a “sparkly-victorian-boudoir” sort of event would be perfect, yea we had to invent that theme.   The day of the shower, as we surveyed the set up, Ginger said, “this is a Ms. Mary party.”  That really did describe the theme!  Enjoy some images from the day.

Of course during the party, we played Bingo…it’s always nice for those attending to be working for a prize (or at least I think so).  We took a spin off of the “Pin Game,” you know the one where you don’t say the word baby.  Our version included plastic multi-colored rings and so the goal was to collect as many sparkly rings as possible!  It was fun.

I wanted yummy food, 2pm in the afternoon called for snack foods.  Of course I wanted to keep it healthy as well.  Baked Brie (honey & walnuts on top, served with bread) was my crowning glory, it was soooo yummy… accompanied by cauliflower, broccoli & cherry tomatos.  Chocolate cake  (with sparkley heart topper) served with Strawberry ice cream & edible glitter!

Mary & Dave,  I am so excited for you and little baby Kylie.  She is going to be awesome and change your lives in the best ways.  Can’t wait to meet her.  -Love, Auntie Sarah
