We love doing open house’s (see our set up at Heritage Hall, Club 1000, and Deer Creek), but we are especially excited about the bridal show we’ll be participating in with The Journey Home next Sunday. Last week we showed you photos from our styled shoot at The Journey Home (click here for Part 1, click here to view Part 2). Tickets to the show are just $5 and will give you access to tons of great vendors (we’re going to be there after all!), not to mention that half of the proceeds will be going to benefit The Power of Pink Breast Cancer Foundation.

Read moreWe are so excited to show Cody & Camille’s engagement session today. You may remember Camille from this post (and her collaborations with us here and here) but this is the first time we’re showing off her fiance Cody. We met up for a picnic in the park and got some great photos of these two together. We had lots of fun with all of the props they brought!
Camille is an artist and Cody a budding guitarist. Where Camille is loud and high energy, Cody is calm with a smile. Somehow they meet in the middle, bringing exactly what the other person needs and it works.
Our first wedding after Sarah’s maternity leave will be spent with Camille and Cody and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with them and their families! We L-O-V-E Camille’s family (hey guys!) and are honored to be a part of this so, so, so special day! Many congratulations to the happy couple!!!

We are working like crazy around these parts, lots of fun stuff to share (and of course working on a bit of a time crunch with some of our upcoming excitement!) When we aren’t working, we believe in dating our husbands AND we believe you should date your husband/fiance. It’s so important to carve out time to be together, especially when life gets busy. We found these articles about Non-Cheesy Date Ideas and one with 52 62 Date Ideas via Pintrest- You can follow us! So today while we’re busy working away, we thought it would be fun to share some of these ideas with you! Most cost little to nothing, they are more about creating space to be together. We also added “KC Twists” and links for you to check out some of the places and ideas!

Rent a tandem bike and stroll the beach. Stop at a random beachfront dive bar for a drink. (KC twist: Bike Share KC run by our friend Eric!)
Sign up for a mud run. It’s wet, dirty and you burn calories. (KC Twist: June 1st is the Color Run in Kansas City - this looks like so much fun!)
Enjoy a living room camp out! Bring out the air mattresses, unleash the junk food and watch movies all night.
Grab a glass of wine and hit the road – your neighborhood, I mean. No harm in taking an aimless evening stroll when you’re with the one you love.
Go to a Flea Market (KC Twist: River Market Antiques, First Friday & City Market)
What are your favorite Kansas City Date Ideas?

Back for another installment of our Best Of Series. This time we’re focusing on Engagement Sessions from the year. We’ve mentioned the numerous reasons we love these sessions, and why often call them Love Sessions. Long story short it’s another time to hang out with our awesome clients. A chance to get to know them better. There really is no replication for these types of sessions, or how they allow us to really connect with our couples. Here are some of our favorites from the year…
Read moreThe heart of our business is, and has always been, to work with people. We like our bride and grooms a lot. We joke sometimes because often after the engagement session, session review, wedding day and image review (sometimes with a boudoir session thrown in there too) we go through client ‘withdrawls’. We miss not seeing the awesome people we get to work with because we count them as friends. But this post isn’t about our brides and grooms, it’s about our bride and grooms friends. Yep, the wedding party. When we first started photographing weddings these big groups were kind of intimidating…it’s a lot of people to give direction to and make look good! More times than not though we discover that the wedding party helps us get to know our clients better; after all these are the people that know the bride groom the very best. They are siblings, friends, relatives, college roomates, and confidants. If it takes a village to raise a child then you could just as easily say that it takes a wedding party to marry the bride and groom. Here are some of our favorites from 2012:
